USAID, Partners Install 100 Toilets to Promote Household Sanitation, Environmental Protection

Through an innovative funding program, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its partners installed 100 sanitary toilets that will benefit 500 people in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, and Alabel, Sarangani.
USAID and its partners celebrated the completion of the project at ceremonies held in Alabel on December 3 and Sagay City on December 6.

USAID worked with global development company DAI, microfinancing institution ASA Philippines, the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation, and the local governments of Sagay City and Alabel to install the toilets as part of a pilot activity implementing Output-Based Aid and Blended Finance (OBA-BF). This innovative financing scheme combines public grants with household equity to fully fund these units.
